About

Classic Dooming is devoted to categorizing and reviewing the levels in the online archives so that the community can have a reliable guide to assist them when they choose to peruse the archives. But right now, that goal is pretty far away. That's why we need YOUR help to accomplish it.

If you're interested in helping us beat back the tide of ignorance, e-mail Grimm at grimmsacatgmaildotcom or seek him out on any of the community forums.
It's time to take back the archives.

The ratings system explained:

1/5: Simply put, this level has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

2/5: Has some positive aspects, but is essentially a crappy level. Levels like this are often characterized by off-grid design, abrupt transitions into completely differently-themed areas, bad object placement, and unmarked yet necessary doors. Sometimes a level thus rated won't have these flagrant design flaws but will simply be seriously lacking in fun factor.

3/5: An "average" level. Such levels have good aspects but also contain a significant amount of flaws, or are simply exceedingly average. Many have levels will end up having good characteristics that make it worth playing to some Doomers, but will be dragged down to this rating because of excessive flaws.

3.5/5: A level you'll probably enjoy playing, but may not want to keep around on your hard drive after you are done. Such levels have many good aspects but still have some flaws, or just don't distinguish themselves enough from the rest.

4/5: A solid level that you'll both enjoy playing and want to keep. This is the type of level that you have no doubt was a great experience after playing.

5/5: A truly great level that does everything right and almost nothing wrong. This level makes your day.

6/5: A level that is actually, truly, 100% perfect. These are the kinds of levels that change how we think about Doom. This rating is extremely rare.

*/5: Unratable, for whatever reason.
